L'Olivo at the Capri Palace - Capri, Italy

Chef Andrea Migliaccio puts a modern twist on traditional regional flavours in the L’Olivo restaurant. Enjoy unobstructed views of the sea and pool from the terrace for a real taste of the Mediterannean. Echoes of Roman Empire elegance, whitewashed interiors and an air of opulence complete the Italian elegance in the Capri Palace Hotel and Spa.

Michelin-starred Med cuisine, a BeautyFarm medi-spa, and seaside chic as only Capri knows how. The hotel’s past isrecorded in its vaulted ceilings and columns, now a backdrop for huge sofas andartworks; and the pool, where you can nibble on exotic-fruit skewers whilewearing oversized sunglasses, sets the tone of Italian indulgence.

You must check out the Michelin-starred restaurant, which serves stunning Italian food at a much more sophisticated level than the surrounding trattorie.

Gourmet credentials  Elegant L'Olivo, the only restaurant in Capri which has two Michelin stars, serves superlative Mediterranean cuisine from young chef Andrea Migliaccio. Bright, white, furnished with cosy armchairs and sofas, and festooned with luxurious cashmere, linen and cotton, the dining room spills out onto a terrace overlooking the pool and the isle of Ischia, the chef’s birthplace. As you’d expect for someone so rooted in the region, Migliaccio crafts menus that are fiercely proud of Campania’s produce (the rabbits on his native island frequently find their way into his ragú), and which showcase his technical proficiency and attention to detail. Even the breads are exquisite.

Top tipple  L’Olivo sits on a 10,000-bottle wine cellar, spanning both the kind of exquisitely rare labels you’d never find anywhere else, and a refreshingly broad and well-priced range of southern Italian vintages.
